Daily Mail Reports: Critics slammed Disney-owned streaming service Hulu for their 'woke' screen adaptation of Nikole Hannah-Jones' The 1619 Project, some saying the complexities of the topics are not properly translating to the screen. 

The six-part Onyx Collective Hulu series by Hannah-Jones and executive produced by Oprah Winfrey aims to reframe the country's history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of the United States' national narrative.

Hulu's 1619 Project includes parts of Hannah-Jones' own background including what it was like for her growing up in Iowa with a black father and white mother.



Following its release critics, have argued a 'lack of facts,' 'dishonesty,' and described it to be 'unbearable' many viewers moving to cancel their subscriptions.
