WOKE EVIDENCE:
Baldur's Gate, as a whole, has undergone significant diversification. There is a more prominent representation of diverse, queer, and female characters who hold named positions of power compared to named white male characters within the game. Furthermore, some seemingly ordinary white male characters have been portrayed as unintelligent, miserly, hateful, or abusive.
Within the local church, there is a situation where refugees are being turned away, while blonde white male members of the congregation are accusing them of being responsible for a murder. The diverse local population can be observed protesting next to the news agency, where they refer to a white bearded guard as a "hog." Additionally, the local Circus in Baldur's Gate is managed by a drag queen who uses she/her pronouns and potentially hosts the highest number of children in the game, aside from the Druid's Grove.
Regarding romantic encounters in the game, there is a perception of forceful inclusion, even though players have the option to decline these advances. The flirting can be overt, sometimes inconsistent with the characters' backstories. I have identified at least 20 overtly homosexual couples in the game, including major main story NPCs, and none of them are depicted as "villains." In contrast, among the straight couples I've encountered or seen remnants of, all 19 out of 19 are portrayed as either evil, radical, cowardly, hateful, or incompetent.
In the character creator, there is a notable absence of gender-specific labels for Female and Male, which are instead represented by nameless body type buttons. Additionally, both male and female characters can have male or female voices, and beards can be applied to characters of either gender. The Hireling system restricts players to preset characters, with a prevalence of masculine women and effeminate men. Notably, the first available option among hirelings is a dark-skinned female Gold dwarf Barbarian with shaved sides and a beard.
In a world besieged by mind flayers, players confront a deadly parasite, forge alliances, and grapple with moral dilemmas in a branching narrative filled with captivating companions and challenging combat.
Baldur's Gate III, the brainchild of Larian Studios, immerses players in a dark, mind flayer-infested realm. A parasitic infection courses through your being, urging urgent action. Your choices reverberate, steering the tide of alliances and outcomes in a complex, character-driven narrative.
The game's heartbeat lies in forging bonds and navigating moral mazes, each decision painting a unique story on the canvas of this perilous world. Heightening the experience is the strategic combat system, merging real-time exploration with turn-based battles, where tactics and teamwork are paramount. As you strive to free yourself from the insidious infection, the fate of this richly textured universe hangs in the balance of your choices.
