Progressives Finally Realize That Latinos Don't Like Being Called 'Latinx'

Red State Reports: Here’s something you don’t see every day: Progressives finally realizing that their terminology is silly.

It appears progressives have finally gotten the memo on the term “Latinx,” a new woke label that has been applied to Hispanic Americans. During a Tuesday discussion on a CNN panel, host Kasie Hunt questioned whether Democrats should stop using the term because it is clear Hispanics aren’t embracing it.

Hunt asked Kate Bedingfield, a former White House Communications Director under President Joe Biden, whether Democrats should abandon the term. Bedingfield acknowledged that “what we would hear from voters on the ground is it didn’t necessarily resonate with them” and that “It felt a lot more like language that people who were, again, professional, political professional, political class was using.”

Several polls have shown this to be true, which could be a significant issue given that a recent USA Today/Suffolk University poll showed former President Donald Trump leading Vice President Kamala Harris 49 percent to 38 percent among Latino voters.

In case you were wondering where the “Latinx” nonsense came from, it was originally introduced as a gender-neutral alternative to “Latino” and “Latina” by activists, academics, and entertainers, which should shock absolutely nobody. The objective was to move beyond gendered language among Spanish speakers because of sexism and stuff.

Yet, Latinos were clearly not on board with the new term. In fact, if I had a billion dollars, I’d bet it all that most of those who were pushing this ridiculous term were white progressive savior types.

A Pew Research survey found that while 47 percent of Latinos have heard the term, only about four percent actually used it to describe themselves. Even further, 79 percent felt it should not be used to describe the Hispanic population.
